How this feed estimate works
The calculator uses a planning allowance by flock stage, then adjusts it for season and the spill percentage you select. Real consumption changes with breed size, age, weather, foraging, feed density, and individual flock behavior.
Use the result to budget and decide container capacity—not to restrict access to a complete, age-appropriate poultry ration. Clean, fresh water should remain available at all times.
Why the result includes a buffer
Feed spilled into bedding, scratched from open feeders, or exposed to moisture is no longer dependable inventory. A small purchasing buffer is more useful than an artificially precise estimate.
